Smyrna Postcard from 1899. Scarce Franking.

Smyrna, Turkey, Austria: Decorative Litho postcard with view at the horse drawn tram at the harbor in Smyrna.

Attached are 2 different surcharged stamps ( Cinq Paras on Dix Paras ), tied by green, bilingual Smyrne – Depart cancellations. One overprint is red, one black.

The postcard was sent Smyrna to Wien.









Smyrna (Greek: Σμύρνη) is an ancient city (today İzmir in Turkey) that was founded at a very early period at a central and strategic point on the Aegean coast of Anatolia. Aided by its advantageous port conditions, its ease of defense and its good inland connections, Smyrna rose to prominence before the Classical Era.

Scarce, fine condition.

Imperial China 1900: Chinkiang Post. Peking vintage postcard (railway station and coal hill ) with 3 Jinjiang ( Chinkiang ) stamps.



Sent as postcard from Chinkiang to Altenburg in Germany. Forwarded by French Post in China. Altenburg - arrivalmark.

Franked by a 15 Cents and 2 Half-cents local stamps, tied by bilingual Chinkiang Postal Service – cancellations.

Fine condition. Very scarce!

Imperial China: Short Stamp Set 1898. Mint

Chinese stamps from1898: 10 stamps from the London prints, Scott 98 – 109 in generally fine condition, with 2 colour varieties of the 5 vents val.





½ cent to 5 cents MNG, 10 cents to 5 Dollars with original gum, hinged. One of the 5 cents stamps has slight faults at upper margin. The 5 Dollar stamp has a slightly short tooth at the lower right corner.

Clean and fresh lot, no thins.

Sent as postcard to Qingdao. Surcharged Germania stamp „Peking Deutsche Post“ – cancellation. The sender was a German soldier of the 1. Company in Beijing.

Scarce, violet „ Stab der Gesandtschaftsschutzwache Peking „ – cancellation.

Italian Post in China, Letter Part 1917.

Italian Post in China. Stamp 10 Centesimi with overprint PECHINO 4 CENTS.






Cover part with clear cancellation „ R. R. Poste Italiane Pechino-Cina „.

Fine condition. Scarce!

Imperial China 1897: Half Cent up to 1 Dollar. Used Stamps.

Imperial China Stamps ( Imperial Chinese Post ). Scott# 86 – 95, used, all with Dollar Daters.






No thins. All in all good perforation of the stamps ( looks like the 30 cents is shorter – mis- perforated. The 1 $ stamp has a short tooth ( might be a perforation reason since it doesn’t look like a torn tooth ). The lower right corner has a repair or just a paper remnant with a proof-mark “L”. Slight creasing.

The right lower corner of the 50 cents stamp has a slight rose toning ( probably has been pasted on a Red-Band-Cover ). The 4 cents val comes in a colour variety, brown and olive.

Old Tientsin. Postcard Medows Road. As Mail to Tsingtao.

We got some interesting Chinese postcards in. It is a correspondence of some German Marines ( 3rd Corps ) stationed in Tsingtau ( Qingdao ). We already listed a few and will add some more shortly. Some have scarce cancellations or other strikes ( Lazarett, Embassy Guard...).
